Family photos… they’re the thing we all love after they’re done. The planning, the outfits, the timing… It all can feel like a lot. But when it comes together, there’s nothing quite like having those memories to look back on, especially when they capture who you are, not just how you look.
For the Alwine Family, this year’s session was exactly that. Perfectly imperfect, full of laughter, and completely them.
When we talked to Liz about her family session, she shared a beautiful reflection. As a family, they’ve made a tradition out of yearly photos. Every year, Liz tells herself it might be their last one, and yet, when the day comes, she remembers why it matters so much. It’s not about matching outfits or getting everyone to smile at the same time. It’s about freezing this season of life exactly as it is, the joy, the chaos, and all the little personalities that make their family sessions so special.
Jacob, their middle child, will test every moment and sneak in a silly face or two. Anna wants to be the center of attention, and James just wants to make Liz proud. And honestly, that’s what she loves most about these photos, they capture all of those dynamics in the most genuine way.

This year, they decided on a studio session, and it changed everything. No worrying about the weather, location, or light. Just their family, music playing, bright natural light, and a space that felt easy and fun.
It took the pressure off, allowing them to simply enjoy being together. They laughed, danced, and even got a few spontaneous hugs in between. By the end, the stress had melted away.
And maybe the biggest surprise of all, on the way home, Jacob (the family’s toughest critic!) suggested they come back in October for his birthday. Liz says, coming from him, that’s the ultimate compliment.
Liz always says that she just wants one great photo, but this year, they got so much more.

Studio sessions are a dream for busy families… no weather worries, flexible scheduling, and a calm environment that helps everyone relax. The neutral setting lets your personalities shine through, creating timeless images that will never feel dated.
If you’re a parent who just wants “one great photo,” I promise, it’s always worth it. You’ll walk away with more laughter, connection, and warmth than you imagined.

Whether your family is full of quiet snuggles or silly energy, your story deserves to be documented. Exactly as it is, right now.
If you’re dreaming of a Connecticut studio family session that feels relaxed, fun, and real, let’s make it happen.
