What Makes a Cake Smash Session Great

• Setting & Styling: Choose a studio or location with good natural light. Soft, neutral backdrops let the baby and the cake pop. Use simple props: balloons, bunting, a milestone board. I love using The Studio at 100.
  
• Wardrobe: Comfortable, easy to wash (trust me), something with personality, and maybe something coordinated with family photos.
  
• The Cake: Not too big or overwhelming, stay away from ice cream cake (soft cake works better), and grab a cake with color that will photograph well.
• Timing: Schedule your session around the time your baby is usually the happiest. Most of the time this is mid-morning, after a good nap. 
• Patience: Patience is key! Your baby’s mood might not always match your expectations. Be patient with them. Don’t stress, natural moments often make the best memories!
• Clean-Up Materials: You’ll want to bring some wipes, a towel, a change of clothes for your babe (and maybe you, too)!
