Senior photography details

I've photographed Cheshire High seniors before and it never gets old. Whether you're at Cheshire High or finishing up at Cheshire Academy, your session should feel like it belongs to you, not to a template.

We'll build it around places that already mean something. Lock 12 on the canal. The falls at Roaring Brook. The Green on a quiet Sunday.

No stiff posing. No standard backdrop. Just images you still like in ten years.

The Vibe & Philosophy

The Town I Keep
Coming Back To

Cheshire is fifteen minutes from my studio, which means I end up here a lot, and I still have not run out of places to shoot.

The Farmington Canal Linear Trail runs the length of town, and Lock 12 sits right on it, the only fully intact lock left from the old canal, complete with a stone bridge and the original lock keeper's house. Roaring Brook Falls drops eighty feet, the tallest in Connecticut. Mixville gives you water and woods. The Green gives you that quiet old New England order.

Cheshire is also, officially, the Bedding Plant Capital of Connecticut. That is a strange sentence until you drive past five million square feet of greenhouses in May. This is a town built around growing things, and it photographs like it.

Learn more about me

Welcome! I've spent ten years photographing Connecticut families, and senior sessions turned into my favorite part of the job. You're old enough to have real opinions about how you want to look, which makes this a collaboration instead of a shoot.

I've been voted Best Photographer in Central Connecticut four years running, and my work has shown up in People magazine and on Live with Kelly and Mark. What I care about more is that you leave feeling like yourself.

Cheshire is a short drive from my studio at 100 Broadway in North Haven, which makes scheduling easy and keeps things simple. Bring the outfits you actually wear and whoever makes you laugh.

My Go-To Spots
In Cheshire

  • Lock 12 Historical Park: The only fully intact lock left from the Farmington Canal, with a stone helicoidal bridge and the old lock keeper's house. Texture, history, and shade all in one place. My pick if you want something with character instead of just a pretty field.
  • Farmington Canal Linear Trail: Long, straight, and tree-lined, which gives you that symmetrical tunnel of green in summer and full gold in October. Clean and simple, and it runs the whole length of town so we can pick our light.
  • Roaring Brook Falls: Eighty feet, the tallest waterfall in Connecticut. Dramatic and completely different from anything else on this list. There's a short walk in, so wear real shoes and bring your session shoes in a bag.
  • Mixville Park: Wooded trails and open water, quieter than the trail and great for anything natural. Especially good in late afternoon when the light comes through the trees sideways.
  • Cheshire Town Green and Bartlem Park: Classic New England on one side, a great lawn and open space on the other. Easy, central, and good when you want a polished look without a hike.

When we plan your session, we'll pick spots that feel true to you. These are the Cheshire locations I come back to again and again:

Where are the best places for senior photos in Cheshire?
Cheshire packs a lot into a small town. Lock 12 is my favorite for texture and character, with the old canal lock and the stone bridge. The Farmington Canal Linear Trail gives you that long green tunnel, especially good in October. Roaring Brook Falls is the dramatic one, eighty feet and the tallest waterfall in the state. Mixville Park is quieter, woods and water. And the Town Green is there when you want something classic and easy.
Do you photograph seniors from Cheshire High School and Cheshire Academy?
Yes to both. I have photographed Cheshire High seniors and would love to shoot yours. Cheshire Academy seniors are welcome too, and since the Academy draws students from all over the country and abroad, I am used to working around visiting families and tight schedules. Just tell me your window and I will build the session around it.
Do you charge a travel fee for Cheshire?
No. Cheshire is about fifteen minutes from my studio in North Haven, well inside my no travel fee radius. That also means scheduling is flexible, and if the weather turns we can move things around without much drama. It is one of the easiest towns in Connecticut for me to shoot in.
When should Cheshire seniors book their session?
Most Connecticut seniors shoot the summer before senior year or in early fall, which lines up with when yearbook portraits are due. If you want fall color on the Linear Trail, mid October is the window and those dates go first. I would reach out three to four months ahead for a specific date, especially for sunset slots in September and October.
Can we shoot at Roaring Brook Falls?
Yes, and it is worth it, but plan for it. There is a short walk in on a real trail, so wear sneakers and carry your session shoes. The rocks near the water get slick, so we stay smart about where we stand. In spring and after heavy rain the falls are at their loudest and most dramatic. In a dry August it is much gentler, which is a different look but still beautiful.
How long is a session and when do I get my photos?
Sessions run about 60 to 90 minutes, enough for two or three outfits and usually two locations. Cheshire's spots are close together, so we can often do the trail and the Green in one evening without rushing. Your gallery arrives within two to three weeks, private and online, with high resolution downloads and full print rights.
What happens if it rains?
We reschedule, no charge. Because Cheshire is so close to my studio, moving a date is genuinely easy and I can often slot you in within the same week. Overcast is great for portraits anyway, soft light and no squinting, so I only move things for real rain. If we are tight on a deadline, the North Haven studio is fifteen minutes away.
