Recently, I had the absolute joy of photographing the Borgnine family at historic Yale University. The crisp air, golden leaves, and beautiful architecture made the perfect backdrop, but what really stood out was the warmth and connection between this family.

I’ve been photographing the Borgnines for four years now, and every session feels like catching up with old friends. Their two boys have such distinct personalities, one full of energy and curiosity, the other thoughtful and observant, and it’s always so special to see how they’ve grown each year. 

Beautiful momma, Megan, told us “My two sons have extremely different personalities, but Nicole is able to capture who they are as individuals and the playfulness and brotherly love between them. Even when I worry we haven’t got a shot, she comes back with too many to choose from.”

This family’s love shines through in every image. Megan also shared, “I love that Nicole captures my husband and I’s relationship, the love we share with each other, and the love we share with our children.” Hearing that means the world, that’s exactly what I hope to preserve in each photo: real emotion, real connection, and the joy that makes a family unique.

One thing I adore about working with this family is how creative they are. Each year, Megan comes to me with a new vision, sometimes a bit out of the box, and I love bringing those ideas to life. She said, “I’m not the easiest of customers lol! I tend to go for shoots that are a little different. From greenhouses to parking garage rooftops to academic vibes at Yale, she’s never fallen short of amazing.”

This year’s session at Yale was all about celebrating change: the turning leaves, the passing seasons, and the boys growing up. I’m so grateful to continue documenting their story year after year, capturing not just how they look, but who they are.
