The decision was made the day before.
What was supposed to be a 5 pm Connecticut winter wedding suddenly felt uncertain as forecasts showed a powerful February blizzard arriving that evening.
Snow totals were climbing. Travel warnings were being issued.
So the night before the wedding, Kelli and Bobby made a bold and intentional choice.
They would move their ceremony up to 2 pm.
Calls were made. Vendors adjusted. Guests rearranged plans. Family rallied.
And somehow, despite the storm moving in, everyone showed up.
This was not just any wedding for me.
This was my cousin Kelli’s wedding.
And that day, I stood beside her as one of her Matrons of Honor — and behind the camera as her photographer.

There are weddings where I arrive simply as the professional.
This was different.
I helped Kelli get ready.
I stood beside her during the ceremony.
I steadied my emotions to give a speech.
And I picked up my camera in between.
To ensure every moment was fully documented, we intentionally brought in a second photographer. Molly Pawlak captured the moments I physically could not be behind the lens for while I stood beside my cousin.
That planning allowed me to be present as family — and still preserve the full story of the day.
Balancing both roles was emotional. But I would not have wanted it any other way.

Snow had already been falling earlier in the day.
The ceremony was beautiful.
The reception was joyful.
The timeline flowed exactly as planned.
But as the evening wound down, something shifted.
The snowfall grew heavier. Larger flakes. Thicker air. The kind of snow that transforms everything.
We looked outside and knew.
This was the moment.
With only minutes left before the celebration ended, Kelli and Bobby stepped outside into the storm. The music was still playing inside. Guests were finishing their final dances. And under the glow of the venue lights, the snowfall became dramatic.
There was no long portrait session.
Just a few intentional minutes.
The air was cold. The snow was steady. And the energy felt electric.
Those images were captured quickly.
But they became the ones the world would see.
“When the snow came, we didn’t hesitate. We ran outside because those moments were too good to miss.”
In the days that followed, the wedding gained attention across Connecticut and beyond.
It was first featured by WTNH
It was then covered by CT Insider
The story was picked up nationally by People.com
And then something surreal happened
Images from Kelli and Bobby’s snowy wedding aired on Live with Kelly and Mark during their February 25 broadcast.
Finding out the story and my photos were on national television was quite the moment.

As a Connecticut wedding photographer, I prepare for lighting, logistics, and timelines.
As a Matron of Honor, I show up for love.
This day asked me to be both.
It reminded me that weddings are not about perfect weather.
They are about flexibility.
They are about people who show up.
They are about choosing joy.
And sometimes, they are about stepping into the snow for a few unforgettable minutes because you know the moment will never happen again.
If you are considering a winter wedding in Connecticut, do not let the possibility of snow intimidate you.
With flexibility, trust, and the right team, even a blizzard can become part of your love story.
Sometimes the most powerful images are not the ones you plan for all day.
They are the ones you run outside to capture at the very end.
